I go to a lot of weddings in Calgary. Which is a good thing, I really enjoy them, and it’s such an honour to be a part of such a special, happy occasion. I don’t even really know how to communicate the gratitude I feel when a couple chooses me for something so important as documenting their day. It’s a remarkable compliment. Still, attending a lot of weddings gets me kind of… oh, I don’t know, used to them. Plus since I’m working at them, mostly I’m thinking about doing a good job, and anticipating events so I can be in the right place at the right time. I don’t always have time or the attention to get wrapped up in some of the smaller moments and events happening.
Debbie and Mark’s wedding was an exceptional wedding in that it brought me to tears. The raw emotion during the ceremony were incredibly touching. Coupled with the warm, hazy sun, it was a perfectly lovely day. I don’t know how anyone could help tearing up during the honesty and feelings expressed in the speeches during the reception.
I think this is, in part, because both Debbie and Mark are wonderful, warm, kind, easy-going people. It was a pleasure photographing their day at Valley Ridge Golf Club. Avelaine of Kalago Photography second shot for me, many thanks for her assistance! Here are a few of the photos:
This next photo is one of the greatest I have ever taken, I think. It cracks me up every time I look at it!
Thanks again, Debbie and Mark, I wish you all of the best for your marriage and future together!
